Call for Nominations 2017 - Due April 14

The Footwear Biomechanics Group is pleased to formally distribute a call for nominations for the following positions within the Footwear Biomechanics Group Executive Board:


The Chairperson‐Elect shall assume office at the meeting of FBG Business Meeting during the biennial Footwear Biomechanics Symposium when the current Chairperson‐Elect assumes the office of the Chairperson. 

Specific duties include:

  1. The Chairperson Elect and the Informatics Officer are responsible for membership recruitment. This includes preparing and presenting activities/strategies to encourage new membership in the FBG.
  2. Observing activities of the Chairperson in preparation for his/her term of office in order to maintain the best possible continuity of the business of the FBG.
  3. Arranging for a new Board meeting at the end of the Footwear Biomechanics Symposium at which he/she assumes the office of the Chairperson. This meeting may, for example be immediately after the FBG Business Meeting.
  4. Updating Constitution and Codes annually (if necessary) and pass them to the Secretary General. 
  5. Assisting the Chairperson and the Symposium Organizer in organising the next Footwear Biomechanics Symposium.
  6. Assisting in the decision on the site for the upcoming Footwear Biomechanics Symposium together with all voting members of the Board. 


Informatics Officer

The Informatics Officer is an elected member of the Board. The primary responsibility of the Informatics Officer is the development and maintenance of the FBG website,

Specific duties include:

  1. Maintaining the webpage of the FBG as a user friendly, primary access option for FBG members and other interested parties.
  2. The Informatics Officer and the Chairperson Elect are responsible for general membership recruitment.
  3. Including information regarding membership, conferences, employment opportunities, published articles in the area of footwear biomechanics and links to related societies (e.g.ISB, I‐FAB).
  4. Providing access to all FBG documents including Constitution and Codes, history of the FBG, past Symposia, etc.
  5. Assisting all Board members in using of the web to enhance their function within the FBG Board.
  6. Promoting the field of footwear biomechanics and the ideals and goals of the FBG.
  7. Assisting in the decision on the site for the upcoming Footwear Biomechanics Symposium together with all voting members of the Board. 


Industry Representative

The Industry Representative represents the interests of and FBG collaboration with industrial partners in the field of footwear biomechanics.  

Specific duties include:

  1. Assisting the Past‐Chairperson and Symposium organizer in coordinating industry participation and sponsorship for the FBG Symposium.
  2. The official contact within the FBG for industry approaches. He/she should actively pursue industry partners for participation in activities conducive to the goals of the FBG.
  3. Together with the Treasurer, the Industry Representative is responsible for any financial agreements between industrial partners and the FBG.
  4. The Industry representative assists the FBG and industrial partners in maintaining ethical principles in the partnership between unbiased scientific projects and profit oriented companies.
  5. Responsibility for recruiting industry members to the FBG. 


Student Representative

The student members of the FBG will elect the Student Representative to the FBG Board (two‐year‐term). Ballots for Student Representative will be distributed at the time the ballots for Board Members will be distributed. The Student Representative will serve for two years and can be re‐elected for a second term. This member will be a voting member of the Council. The period of service will be limited to two terms. 

Specific duties include:

  1. Maintaining a list of student members, working with the FBG Treasurer, and maintaining contact with all students on matters related to the FBG.
  2. Working with the Informatics Officer to maintain a student web page for efficient communication.
  3. Ensuring all student members are informed of the symposium meeting places and dates, location and dates of all Student Tutorials, Workshops and Seminars.
  4. Organizing, together with the Footwear Biomechanics Symposium organizers, student events, e.g. a luncheon, with invited senior members of the FBG to attend, at the biennial Symposium.
  5. Responsibility for recruiting student members to the FBG.
  6. Assisting in the decision on the site for the upcoming Footwear Biomechanics Symposium together with all voting members of the Board.

Each position consists of a two-year term, with the exception of the Chairperson-elect, who will become Chairperson (another 2-year term) following their term as Chairperson-elect.
