The 13th biennial Footwear Biomechanics Group symposium will be held as a satellite event to the 26th ISB Congress, being held just up the road in Brisbane, Australia. Come and join us for a stimulating scientific and technical program and enjoy the sun, sun and surf of Australia’s playground, the Gold Coast.

Griffith University has a long association with the Footwear Biomechanics Group and cordially invites world-wide colleagues to share state-of-the-art knowledge in footwear biomechanics and its applications.

The Location

The name says it all. The Gold Coast is a city touched by gold with a mild subtropical climate delivering blue skies almost year round. With more than 300 days of sunshine every year, visitors enjoy wonderfully mild winters, warm autumns and springs and sun-drenched summers.

Famous for an unrivalled range of entertainment and attractions, the Gold Coast is known as Australia’s favourite playground. The attractions of the Gold Coast are diverse and colourful in nature: beaches with unique beauty, fantastic foreshore areas and walks, a high-rise dominated skyline, exhilarating theme parks and a world heritage rainforest waiting for your exploration. It is true that the Gold Coast is home to the largest subtropical rainforest remnant in the world and more than 100,00ha of nature reserves and world heritage.

The Gold Coast is home to seven of Australia’s best theme parks, 600 restaurants and cafes, Queensland’s largest shopping centre, over 70 kilometres of pristine coastline as well as an abundance of natural and cultural wonders.
